I’m Ouyang Yingzhao, or Yingzhao Ouyang, depending on whether you want to use the Chinese or Western name order. I have a bewilderingly wide range of interests and hardly enough time to accommodate all of them at once; but I try to, all the same. This blog is an outgrowth of that.
Right, more about me.

Reading
I like to read. A lot. Anything that’s written in English is fair game, though the following topics will inevitably draw my interest more than others.
History and Current Affairs
History and Current Affairs are fascinating subjects, if not always cheery. My introduction to the theme was as a kid watching the news on TV for the first time, and witnessing the tail end of the Cold War. Desert Storm, the Berlin Wall, Tiananmen Square; those were among the formative images in my young mind.
Technology
Technology, and specifically computers, have been a large part of my life since I came into contact with my father’s Apple IIc. I’ve also picked up some programming over the years.
Social Media
This is something that, admittedly, I didn’t take part in the medium for a long while, other than the occasional spasms of Facebook gaming. But now the more I delve into it, the more fascinating it becomes. It has been, and is continuing to be a crash course – but then, technology is like that.
Photography and Graphic Design
Photography is something that I began seriously dabbling in during my university years. It is a different way of expressing myself; of capturing the moment, telling a story, framing a different view of the world. Graphic Design shares similarities, but it focuses on creation over capture. I started dabbling in Photoshop in high school, but only recently have I begun to explore the depths beneath, while mastering the tools in a hurry. Both Photography and Graphic Design are best described as a marriage of technology and art.
Writing
In the past, I’ve dabbled in poetry and essays, and even have a relic of a LiveJournal hiding in the dark recesses of the Internet. But if I’m ever going to reach my life aim of publishing a book, I need to make a serious start – and this blog is part of that.
Other Interests
Other notable areas of interest include Philosophy, Design, Anime and Manga, English Language Teaching, Role-playing and Computer Gaming. In my work, moreover, I find myself coming into contact with aspects of Marketing and Management, so these topics might find their way into the blog as well.
